Bande des Quatres III

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013
Bande(s) a make her dance Bande des Quatres has taken shape, thanks to shapes and a tight formula. Each collection dips into a well of artistic periods and specific movements then develops the inspiration into new worlds of jewelry--Collection III takes on abstract photography. Illusion creates a lot of what you see here. Minimal geometric pieces take advantage of negative space to show much more than what is actually there. The modernist contours of each bracelet, ring, and earring, often use open designs that work with the body’s lines to complete the intended aesthetic. Silvers, blacks, golds, and bronzes, make for a bold statement--you know fashion, in fact, you studied it, and you’re ready for the city. Catch up on their previous works here, and check out Collection III below.

RiRi and Breezy Make Out

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012
Rihanna and Chris Brown sitting in a club, k-i-s-s-i-n-g Ever since news about Chris Brown hitting his then girlfriend Rihanna went public everyone had an opinion about it (including us). The situation between the two has been dragged on by the media, but also by the pair themselves, all of which hit a climax in an interview with Oprah where Rihanna admitted she was still in love with Chris Brown. Now, supposedly the two were seen kissing at Griffin nightclub on Monday. Is this any of our business? Not really, but, it's one thing to reconcile behind closed doors in an emotional way (what she went on to talk about with Oprah) and it's another to get drunk and make out in a club in New York with the guy who beat you up. What do you think? Does everyone deserve a second chance? Does Rihanna have a responsibility to set a better example?

Friday, November 5th, 2010
If you don't live in New York, get ready to be jealous. 50 times. The Village Voice put together 50 Reasons to be Pretty Damn Euphoric You Live in NYC. Or maybe if you don't live in NY, you won't get it. Some highlights from the list include: 47. There is always someone crazier than you. ALWAYS. 41. We get the inside jokes. Because, actually, we made them up in the first place. 38. Drinking is like breathing. Or slightly more acceptable. 25. Except in select 'hoods like Park Slope and perhaps the Upper West Side, children are viewed as mysterious beings, rarely sighted and only occasionally understood, like pixies or magical small butlers. Until they scream, in which case, they are banished from the palace. 7. Subway "prewalking," in which you walk to the exact right spot on the platform to board the train car that will save you the most time upon exit, exists and has a name. Gotta respect.
