Magic Hour

The battle continues Chloë Sevigny appears in a new short film that might get Los Angelenos panties’ in a bunch. Magic Hour, directed by actress and designer Tara Subkoff, recalls the age old debate: which is better, NY or LA? In this 7 minute clip, Chloë plays a lonely New Yorker, recently relocated to LA. On the phone, pacing around her sun-drenched apartment, Sevigny vents about her new city’s shortcomings. Namely, the relentless sunshine, endless traffic, and the inevitable isolation from the city’s sprawl. We’re not sure how 24/7 sun-rays could ever be a bad thing, but it looks like Chloë’s got a case of the homesickness blues...the kind that fish tacos can’t even cure. Sevigny’s tongue-in-cheek performance is right on point, and so are her expert romper bathroom tactics. Check out the short film Magic Hour featuring Chloë Sevigny below. Spotted on: HUH.

WATCH: SUNSHINE’s First Video

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Superman kissing a boy… Sunshine hails from Vancouver, where it’s probably raining. Their first video, “Showering with Wine” showcases this inherent juxtaposition. Batman and Superman behave all too familiar, indulging in vices while maneuvering through the city. And if you're wondering, there's no Bat Mobile and Superman can’t fly. Conversely, the costumed characters wander the night by foot and train as they progressively become wilder, a pace reflected through quick transitions between blurred and focused camerawork--you'll feel as dizzy as the stars. Sunshine is a new-wave indie rock outfit that manages to maintain a dark and brooding atmosphere while delivering gazey, upbeat tracks. Their Bandcamp will host their self-titled record due Feb. 26 featuring appearances from members of The Raveonettes, The New Pornographers, and Morrissey’s band.
