Get Fit__ Why Runners Should Start Racing to the Weight Room
Runners aren't exactly well known for making an appearance in the weight room. Slow down to bulk up? Nah. Well, here's where runners (guilty as charged) are wrong. Lifting those weights can help provide lean body mass, only making you that much faster. And to us that sounds like a win-win.
Research shows that plyometrics can help shave those seconds off of your running time, especially in a 5k, thanks to all of that extra muscle power. But in addition to shaving your time, your lean muscle mass can also prevent injury that way you never have to bring a halt to your training. So if you're a runner, be sure to run on over to weight room once in a while.
