Cass Bird's new book Rewilding celebrates women having fun with women

In 2009, photographer Cass Bird took a trip with a group of young women to Tennessee. With them they brought a wardrobe of diaphanous dresses and a camera. The result of the expedition was Rewilding, in which Cass paints a portrait of modern feminity and a celebrates women's camaraderie.

Cass is known for her beautiful portraits that capture contemporary America. She describes her work as the convergence of alternative lifestyles with accepted conceptions of motherhood, nurturing and family. Her photography draw attention to youth culture and gender roles.

Cass will be signing copies of Rewilding at LEADEPRON in Los Angeles this Thursday March 15 from 6-8pm. Go get yourself one.
