Get Healthy__ Skip the Coffee, Silver Needle Tea is Your New Caffeine Fix
Soft aromatic white teas may seem delicate and fragile, but they hold a steady position above the alternatives – coffee and green tea.
With an array of antioxidant benefits, you may find yourself steeping the hand-plucked leaves most mornings. Mariage Frères tea taster Kitti Cha Sangmanee, in an interview with Vogue, said silver needle tea is different from other antioxidant driven teas because the leaves are fresh and less processed. “The young buds are selected, hand-plucked, carefully withered and dried under the sun,” he says.
With very little processing, natural properties of the white needle buds appear in the mandarin and truffle scented cup. Although, the drink has less caffeine than the usual morning beverages it’s antioxidant levels make up for the minor fall.
According to New York City nutritionist Marissa Lippert of Nourish Kitchen + Table, the high levels of polyphenols make the tea easy to digest in which she also credits it to reducing inflammation, heart disease, and cholesterol.
Okay so you're probably not going to give up your double espresso over ice, but with all these health benefits you can definitely add an extra cup of tea into the mix.
